Once Heyweek becomes part of your daily routine, the keyboard is the fastest way to move through it. This guide covers the categories of shortcuts you'll rely on — navigation, search and focus, selection, and common actions — plus how to discover the exact keys inside the app and a few habits that make them stick.

Navigation shortcuts

Getting between views and items is where keyboard shortcuts pay off first.

• Move around the interface and jump between sections without reaching for the mouse.
• Step through lists and items so you can review or act on them in quick succession.
• Open and close panels and views to keep your hands on the keys while you work.

The more you navigate by keyboard, the less your flow gets interrupted by hunting for the right click target.

Search and focus

Finding things fast is often the single biggest time saver.

• Use the shortcut to focus search, so you can start typing a query immediately.
• Filter down to what you're looking for without leaving the keyboard.
• Jump straight to a result once it appears, rather than scrolling to it.

In Files, focusing search is a built-in shortcut — type to filter and you're there in a keystroke.

Selection

Working with several items at once is much quicker when selection lives on the keyboard.

• Select one or more items to act on them together.
• Extend or narrow a selection as you go.
• Clear the selection when you're done, so the next action starts clean.

In Files you can select multiple items and then clear the selection entirely with a shortcut.

Common actions

The everyday actions you repeat dozens of times a day all have keyboard equivalents.

• Copy, cut, and paste to move items between folders and views.
• Delete items, sending them safely to the trash where they can be restored.
• Trigger the primary action on whatever you've selected without breaking stride.

In Files specifically, copy, cut, paste, delete, clear selection, and focus search are all available from the keyboard.

Discover shortcuts in-app

Rather than memorizing a printed list, let the app show you what's available.

1. Look for a shortcuts or help option within the feature you're using.
2. Hover over buttons and menu items, where the key is often shown as a hint.
3. Try the common conventions you already know — many behave exactly as you'd expect.
