Talk to your team without leaving Heyweek. Messages is built-in chat — direct messages and group conversations — so quick questions and longer discussions stay close to the work they're about.

Overview

Messages gives your team a chat space inside Heyweek. Start a one-on-one conversation or a group chat, reply to specific messages, react with emoji, and share files — all without switching to a separate app. Because it lives alongside your projects, the people you work with are already here.

Key features

  • Direct messages — One-on-one conversations with a teammate.
  • Group chats — Bring a team or a group of people together in one conversation, and manage who's in it.
  • Replies — Reply to a specific message so it's clear what you're responding to.
  • Threads — Keep a side discussion organized in its own thread instead of cluttering the main chat.
  • Reactions — React to a message with an emoji for a quick acknowledgement.
  • Files & GIFs — Share documents, images, and GIFs right in the conversation.
  • Search — Find past messages and conversations quickly.

Getting started

  1. Start a direct message with a teammate, or create a group chat for a team or topic.
  2. Add the right people to a group chat.
  3. Send messages, reply to a specific one, or start a thread for a side discussion.
  4. Share files or a GIF inline, and react with an emoji.
  5. Use search to find something from earlier.
TIP

Use a thread for a tangent so the main conversation stays easy to follow — replies stay grouped and the chat doesn't get noisy.

Direct messages and group chats

A direct message is the fastest way to reach one person. A group chat brings a team or a set of people together, and you can add or remove members as the group changes. Everything you'd expect from a conversation is there: reply to a particular message, react with an emoji, and share files or GIFs without leaving the chat.

Threads and replies

When a conversation branches, keep it tidy:

  • Reply to a message to make it clear what you're answering.
  • Start a thread to take a side discussion out of the main flow, so the chat stays readable.

Conversations add up, so search helps you find a past message or decision without scrolling through history. Search by what was said to jump straight back to the relevant moment.

Works with the rest of Heyweek

Tips

  • Use group chats for ongoing teams or topics, and direct messages for quick one-to-one questions.
  • Reach for threads when a conversation branches so the main chat stays readable.
  • Share files and GIFs inline so context and conversation stay together.
  • Search before re-asking — the answer is often already in the history.
